Why the shepherds first?

As the lowly shepherds
 lay keeping their sheep.
An Angel of the Lord appeared,
 Come worship the Savior
a babe in peaceful sleep.

Why the shepherds first?
Why not someone of more authority?
Christ alone came for all mankind
Not one has greater priority.

Who better to be the first to arrive?
After all, Christ is the Lamb of God.
Who better to kneel at His side,
but those who believed ,
though to others it may have seemed odd.

For in the Kingdom of Heaven,
the last shall be first and first shall be last
Lord make me as a lowly shepherd
help me to put You first,
 and my selfish ways last.

Repent and turn to Jesus

Repent and turn to Jesus,
for the time is drawing near.
Let those with eyes to see
and those with ears to hear.

Repent and turn to Jesus
leave your sins in the past.
Accept Him while there is still time,
for that time is fading fast!

Repent and turn to Jesus
He is waiting for you, a Child of God to be
He has always been right there
just open your eyes to see.

Repent and turn to Jesus
My plea to you, I pray
Repent and turn to Jesus
For He IS the ONLY way!

The War is already won..but the battle rages on

The war has already been won,
The Victor, God's only Son.

Yet the enemy continues to attack us
every hour of ever day.
But, God is for us and He defends us
against satan's every way.

His Word like a double-edged sword,
My faith a shield
Yet my greatest defense against the enemy
comes, when all my heart and soul to Christ I yield.

Without the Lord I am nothing,
Can do nothing am powerless against temptation
But through Him I can do anything
in Him I have Salvation.

To Breathe the Air of Heaven

To breathe the air of Heaven
To feel the refreshing breath of Lord
breathing life into my soul.

I am alive in Him now.
I see Him clearly now.
I hear Him speak to me.

To breathe that precious air of my Savior
So easy to breathe,
cherishing every moment.

Far from home...but HE never left

This poem is a two part poem.  The first part is a prayer to God and the second is His response.

(my prayer)

Why do I feel so disconnected
as if someone pulled the plug?
I want to come running back
yet I cant seem to move faster than a slug.

Feeling so far away, I just don't understand.
I need to fall all my knees ,
yet still alone I stand.

Where did I go wrong?
How did I get so far away?
I don't remember when I took that first step
all I know is that one step,  I took
led me astray.

Do I not know You as well as I thought I had?
So disappointed in my selfish heart
was I wrong when I thought my faith in You
was iron clad?

I know You have never left me,
You have been here all along.
Why does it seem so few steps to walk away
yet to come back home seems so long?

(His answer)

My child no matter how far
you feel you have gone
stop your wandering thoughts
and see you've never left home.

Though you may feel alone and powerless
overcome with guilt and sorrow
Lift up your heart to Me
and begin a new tomorrow.

You're never too far away
from My protective hand and loving heart
Stop looking back wondering what went wrong
instead look to Me let me erase your pain and give you
a fresh start.

What you leave behind

We all have a responsibility
and I truly believe it is so
Its not what you take with you to heaven
but what you leave behind when you go.

What will be your legacy
when people think of you?
Will they know you had the Lord in your heart
and to His word you remained true?

Did you leave the light and loveof Jesus
in your children's hearts and minds?
Did you show them what He has done for us
read them the Bible, for all their questions
the answers they can find.

Did you teach them when times get tough
and you feel like giving in
that's when you know you've grown closer to His love
and He's on your side to win.

When temptation to do wrong
grows stronger everyday
just stay steadfast in His love
get on your knees and pray.

Make sure your loved ones know
all about Jesus and His love
so someday when it comes their time
you will all meet again in His kingdom above

How to Pray

Jesus taught us how to pray
but how often we forget
we need to praise Him first in prayer
before our needs are met.

Start by saying thank You Lord
for all that You have given
Help me to remember to forgive
 and be forgiven.

Now its time to ask for help
and ask for His protection
Just simply ask for Him to lead you
in the right direction.

Obey His word and praise His name
every single day
But don't forget to feel in your heart
your words before you pray.

Know He is always there for us
just ask and you shall receive
The Lord works in mysterious ways
just praise Him and believe.

Trust in Him

Praise the Lord for this day that is given
stop the worry and just start livin'.

Just give Him your needs and concerns
and look forward to the day He returns.

For He loves us all deep down inside
He was there when you laughed,
He has held you when you've cried.

You can find all the answers to your troubles and woes
Just trust in Him, for He already knows.

Just seek Him out He is always there for us.
Just praise Him,
and in Him alone you must trust.

To dine with the King of kings

Come boldly to My table
Where a place for you is set.
Please accept this invitation
no requirements need met.

Just find Me in your heart
believe upon My Holy Name.
But beware believing in the mind
and in the heart are not the same.

I gave My life for you
Upon the cross of Calvary.
My blood poured out to save you
from sin to set you free.

So let Me fill your cup
with joy and righteousness.
You shall feast upon the bread of life
Be filled with My Spirit, your love for me profess.

Interwoven

Prayer is essential to Christians
as the air we breathe.
The Lord has knit us together,
our heartstrings He does weave.

We are one big family
all children of God.
Let us always be in prayer for each other
while on this earth we trod.
There is great power in prayer
shinning brighter than the sun.
But ever greater still
when we pray together as one.

Let us gather together
in fellowship and prayer.
For Jesus has said that where two or more meet in His name,
He will also be there.

Be Still

My child I have invited you
to come to Me in prayer.
Remember when you do,
I'll always meet you there.

Prayer is not one sided,
I like to talk to you just the same.
So pause for a while
before you close in My name.

Think of it as a conversation
not just a wish list of concerns.
We both have lots to say
so let us both take turns.

My child I love you dearly
and each day you do My will.
So take some time when you pray each day
to be quiet and just be still.

Quiet Time

Turn down the noises and distractions of your day.
Go into your prayer closet, set your mind upon Him and pray.

Take some special time to speak to the Lord in your quiet space.
These intimate times with God are priceless,
putting a song in your heart and a smile upon your face.

It's just you and the Lord there together heart to heart.
Close your eyes, clear your mind, quiet your soul before you start.

You're Invited

There is an invitation
that is written on your heart.
God is the author He is waiting to hear from you
now is the time to start.

He is waiting patiently
to hear about your day
Treasuring every word in your heart
before you even say.

So take your time and set your heart
and mind upon Him now.
The Holy Spirit is here to help you
when you're not sure what to say or how.

Preparing for Rain

Our prayers are seeds we plant
in times of happiness and pain.
While waiting for our seeds to grow
we must prepare for rain.

The anticipation while we wait upon the Lord
is at times hard to bear.
But when the time is right
His plans for us He will share.

Though we would all like a quick answer to our requests
the timing is not up to us.
We must remain faithful in our prayers
in Christ alone put our hope and trust.

And when the time is just right
His answer will come in bloom
.For His timing is always perfect
never too late, and never too soon.

Christ Alone

A debt paid in full, one I could not satisfy.
This the very reason my Savior had to die.

Upon His head a crown of thorns
carried His cross through a crowd that scorns.

Without hesitation He gave His life for me.
Without a second thought His sacrifice had set me free.

A debt I could not pay, a sin I could not erase.
Only Christ alone could save the human race.

To reconcile us with The Father
His only Son was crucified.
He became our sin
and with Him our sin that day had died.

Just Me and My Jesus

Well Lord it's just You and me
here in this peaceful place.
I hear Your voice, I feel Your touch
and soon shall I see Your face.
I have set aside all my worries and fears
my faith no longer sways.
I've put all my trust, my hope, my life in Your hands
now and for the rest of my days.

Revive me with Your Spirit
within my heart ignite Your fire.
May I always walk in Your way, Your light,
Your truth and not grow weary or tire.

Rid Me of Myself

Lord fill my heart with Your love
and rid me of myself
Don't let me forget that I am Yours
help me not to put Your love and grace on a shelf.

Jesus guide me and show me how
to give with a gracious heart.
Use me and  my life to do Your work
Lord help me to do my part.

Lord I surrender all of me
and all I have to You right now.
My life is not my own, nor anything I have on earth
help me to give it all to You somehow.

Help me to empty my heart
so that You may dwell within.
With You on my side, taking care of me
Lord there is no battle I won't win.

Tests of Faith

Though the trials may be many
and some days may seem so long.
We shall not grow weary
for in the Lord we grow strong.

Through tribulations and temptations
oh I'm sure there will be some.
With Jesus on our side,
Praise Him! We shall overcome!

We never walk alone,
with Jesus always by our side.
Our Lord, our Savior, our Comforter
may He always be our guide.

So when those seas grow stormy
may He overflow your cup.
Just remember when you're feeling down
the only way to look is up.

The Battle Within

Lord give me the strength
to fight through these stormy seas
Lord only You can heal my sickness,
cure me from this disease.

These things I don't want to do,
I seem to do anyway
Take control of my life, my actions, my heart,
so that I may live with You someday.

Lord all I want to do
is to please You and show others Your love.
Lord You reign on high
over all here on earth and above.

untitled

Lord help me stay true
to obey Your every command.
Help me to remember You are my steady rock
all others are sinking sand.

Give me strength and courage
and just the right words to say.
Lord help me reach out
to another lost soul today.

Fill me with Your Holy Spirit
to guide me through my time here on earth.
My comforter, my teacher, my intercessor,
of unfathomable worth.

Apart from You I am nothing
I need Your help everyday.
Without You I would be lost
Praise be to God, for showing me the way.
